Bago City is the Philippines’ “treasure house of history and nature.” Located at the foot of Mount Canlaon, it has abundant pristine springs, cascading waterfalls, rich freshwater attractions and abundant biodiversity. It is part of the Philippines’ seventh Ramsar site and home to the rare and endangered Irrawaddy dolphin. This is supported by the spectacular diversity of the Bago watershed.
Sagay Marine Reserve, situated in the Visayan Sea of the Philippine territorial waters was once called the Alaska of the Philippines. Inside the Sagay Marine Reserve, Suyac Island has a mangrove forest compelling natural assets such as the presence of old growth mangrove species particularly the Sonneratia alba mangrove species and the flying foxes. Which is now under protection through Community-based Eco Tourism Project.
