We are proud to announce that our family winery is participating in the 2024 Sonoma County Barrel Auction with a "Never Before, Never Again" wine — our "Heritage Selection"! 🍷 A tribute to the enduring legacy of Zinfandel, “Heritage Selection” is a blend from four distinct vineyards, each planted to the historic Mazzoni clone. Each site produces its own singular expression: from Spencer’s Hill, powerful, rich fruit tones; from Somers Ranch, elegant, red-fruit nuances; from Wallace Ranch, classic Dry Creek Valley spice and ripe fruit character; and from Farmhouse Vineyard, richness and peppery spice notes. The Mazzoni clone was the genesis of 极速赛车开奖官网直播记录 飞飞艇开奖计划稳定结果官网网址 幸运飞开艇168开奖结果平台, initiated in 1982 to preserve the tradition and heritage of very old Zinfandel vineyards. This highly acclaimed clone has consistently produced Dry Creek Vineyard wines rated 90+ points, including a Wine Spectator Top 100 winner. We look forward to seeing everyone in May! #SoCoBA
Cheers to Earth Day! 🌎 As we celebrate our beautiful planet, we're reminded of the important role sustainability plays in crafting each bottle of wine. From vine to glass, we're committed to preserving our environment for future generations. In honor of Earth Day, we encourage our Dry Creek Vineyard family and wine lovers across the nation to appreciate Mother Nature with special attention to a few green tips: 🌱 Reduce, reuse, recycle: Reduce waste whenever you can, reuse items instead of buying new ones, and recycle materials such as paper, plastic, glass and metal in their proper containers. 🌱 Conserve water: Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, shaving or in between dishes while washing. If you have a leak, fix it as soon as possible. If you have a dishwasher, choose to fill it up and run it instead of washing dishes by hand individually. 🌱 Unplug electronics: Turn off and unplug electronics when they're not in use to save energy. Remember to turn off the lights as well when you leave a room. 🌱 Use reusable bags: Bring your own reusable bags when shopping to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bags. 🌱 Choose eco-friendly products: While you're at the store, choose to purchase products with minimal packaging, made from sustainable materials, and that are produced using environmentally friendly practices. 🌱 Support local and sustainable: Choose to purchase locally made goods and support the businesses that prioritize sustainability in their supply chains. Here's to a greener future together! 🍷 #EarthDay2024
It's no secret that our family winery has been a longtime advocate in preserving one of our home appellation's greatest treasures: old vine Zinfandel. Old vine Zinfandel has shown various benefits — the vines are typically more resistant to environmental stressors and have deeper root systems. These older vines also often require less water and are more resilient to disease, contributing to sustainable farming practices. A shining example of our old vine preservation is our Wallace Ranch property (pictured), the first of our estates to be planted with the Heritage clone in 1994. To develop this clone, we grafted budwood from a pre-Prohibition vineyard onto phylloxera-resistant rootstock, forever preserving the heritage of the old vines and crafting a "young vine" wine with "old vine" characteristics. In celebration of Women’s History Month, we sat down with pioneering women winemakers who launched their careers in the cellar of Dry Creek Vineyard. Laura Levin carries on the legacy of women winemakers as our current lab technician. After five years of entertaining winery guests in the tasting room, on one fateful day during harvest when the cellar was short-staffed, Laura was recruited to help sort grapes and check sugars. “I thought, ‘Well, this is really fun,’” she said. “It was completely opposite of anything else I had done.” Laura transitioned to the lab, where the quiet, meticulous nature of analysis provided a welcome balance to her previous work in the theater world. Laura doesn’t see herself moving on from Dry Creek Vineyard anytime soon. “I love the people,” she said. But not every winery has the winemakers that I work with and the cellar staff that I work with and the marketing people that I work with. That’s my favorite part.” Visit the link in our bio to watch the full interview. #drycreekvineyard #womeninwine #womenshistorymonth
Sending warm birthday wishes to our remarkable president and leading woman-in-wine, Kim Stare Wallace ✨ We deeply appreciate your energy and bold leadership all these years — thank you for all that you do!
We have been practicing sustainability from the beginning. Simply because it matters to us what we consume. Don has dedicated his life making sure he leaves the land better than he found it. For more than 30 years, Don has been actively involved in sustainable agriculture in Sonoma County. First suggesting sustainable grape growing to the Wine Institute of California, Don’s early adoption of concepts such as cover crops, soil mapping, water emitters and creating a symbiotic, healthy environment for the vineyard, have made him a leader among sustainable grape growers in the wine industry. The Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy is a Sonoma County non-profit dedicated to ensuring a sustainable future for California’s North Coast. The Leadership in Sustainability Awards is the North Bay’s premier gathering of sustainability leaders and supporters. This inspiring event is critical for providing the encouragement and recognition to those who work tirelessly to create an economically, ecologically and equitably sustainable future for our community. Commenting on Don’s award, Tanya Narath, Executive Director of the Institute said, “We are very pleased to honor Leadership Institute Fellow Don Wallace for his pioneering role in sustainable agriculture. He has successfully integrated economic and environmental needs to create a strong business. Our economy and environment are healthier because of Don’s leadership.” Next time you’re at the winery ask about the Dry Creek Rehabilitation plan! #earthday #earthmonth #dcv #drycreekvalley #healdsburg #sonomacounty #sustainability #agriculture #farming #wine #soil #farming
